Helping your employees dream.

Food for thought here folks...

What if a company, your company, hired a "life coach" (or as I would call myself, a Life Development Coach) to help each employee map out their 10 year/5 year/3 year/1 year/90-60-30-day personal and professional goals and dreams?

Limiting Beliefs

I think the old way of the “guru” showing us how to live, what to do, what to avoid, etc. is no longer relevant. We all want someone who leads us while still going through the battle. Someone who is honest and will say that they don’t have it all together, however, they have already discovered the tools needed to continue to push forward, to continue to take the next step, and how they handle setbacks. Now, that’s not to say that experience doesn’t matter. It does. I just think people aren’t wanting the 85-year-old as the coach/mentor. They want someone in the thick of it.

Necessary Endings - Part Four: This or That?

I’ve had to work on something that is a fundamental core issue with myself.

I. WANT. IT. ALL.

Literally, all of it. I want options. I want to plan six different scenarios so I know I’m going to be ok. I want the flexibility day-by-day to decide what I want. Now, these aren’t all inherently bad. However, when I fixate on it and obsess over it, it becomes a problem.

Necessary Endings - Part Three: Wise, Foolish, Evil.

You can’t deal with everyone in the same way. For most of us, this isn’t brand new information. However, it’s a good reminder that everyone is different, sees the world differently, and has their own agenda in which they operate under. I’m not going to get into the Enneagram, or Myers–Briggs, or the DISC Assessment. (At least, not today.) I want to simplify this so we have a basic ground level that we can continue to build upon.

Necessary Endings - Part Two: Limiting Beliefs.

If you hold your finger over a lit candle, it’ll eventually start to get hot and hurt. Hurt = Pain. Pain drives our brains to move and do something. Have you ever been in “emotional pain” and your mind actually gets stuck and you don’t move? I have…many times actually. I shut down and I just want to regress. Essentially, I become helpless. Usually, around this point, I begin to believe the lies that circle in my head.

Necessary Endings - Part One

“Getting to the next level always requires ending something, leaving it behind, and moving on…”

Let that settle in for a second. “Getting to the next level always requires ending something, leaving it behind, and moving on.” If we are honest with ourselves, leaving things behind and moving on is one of the hardest challenges we face. A business. A relationship. A friendship. Sometimes, these have to die for us to continue living.

The Quick Check-In

Ok, honestly, this is a game-changer. There are a number of reasons throughout my day I do these. Maybe I’m feeling a little off, or wound up, or a little anxious, or my energy isn’t what it normally is. Or someone said or did something that rubs me the wrong way. Honestly, there could be a hundred different things.
